Robert and Ravi pursue Jack but the parasite known as the reaper bursts out of him and into Ravi. Robert is grateful to the medically trained Lily for lending him an X-ray machine to locate the bug but must destroy it before it takes over his brother's brain. With Bella's help he lures Bulstrode to the music hall and, using Hyde's blood and monocane, forces the Reaper out of Ravi and thus finds a way to coerce Bulstrode into leaving him alone. In 1885 Edward Hyde, Murderous alter ego of Henry Jekyll disappears. Fifty years later orphaned young medic Robert Jekyll returns to London from Ceylon where his superhuman strength and outbursts when stressed have attracted attention, requiring medication from adoptive father, Dr Najaran. He is told by solicitor Max Utterson that he is descended from Dr Jekyll whilst back in Ceylon sinister Captain Dance from the organization Tenebrae kills the doctor and his wife in his search for Robert. Sir Roger Bulstrode, head of MIO, an anti-monster spy network is keen to recruit Robert but before he can do so Robert, hearing of his foster parents' death, undergoes a deadly transformation, being rescued by music hall owner Bella and elderly Mr Garson, who seems to recognize what he is.
